Scripture Text:
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100)
Thought:
During this time of year, we think about being thankful. The
Psalmist in Psalm 100 was obviously thankful. It comes through in
every line of this great verse.
This passage reminds me that being thankful is not that
difficult. Look at how short and simple this verse is. But in
today's chaotic world, we tend to make things more difficult than they
have to be. We need to take a few moments - they are there, just
sometimes overlooked - just a few simple moments to reflect on the
glorious gifts we have. Take a moment away from the computer,
away from the TV, away from the things that are pulling you down and
pulling you away from God. Take just a moment... to thank God.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord, for the many blessings you have given me. I know
that I don't take the time to express that enough. Help me Lord to
take a few moments of every day just to recognize how wonderful you
are. I often feel like I have to use every moment for the many
burdens pulling me in every way - my job, my family, and my hobbies.
You know my needs Lord, and if I would just take the time for You, perhaps
some of the other burdens would lighten. Help me keep it all in
perspective. In your son's name, Amen.
