Encouragement - Psalm 36:5a

Scripture Text:

"Lord, your love reaches to the heavens..." (Psalm 36:5a)

Thought:

Do you ever go out and night and just look up at the stars?  I don't know where you live, but I'm blessed to live in a rural area where the city lights don't dim the majestic night sky.  On a clear night the view is astounding.  I feel that I can see forever.  The lights of the stars come from a distance so, so far away.  It's amazing to think how long it takes the light to travel to my eyes.

Now, when I read this verse, I think about how great God's love must be.  Surely, God knows how high the heavens are.  And, surely the Holy Spirit - in inspiring the writer - knew exactly how far the heavens are.  So, in reading this thought, it's comforting for me to realize how far, how big, how marvelous, how amazing, His love truly is!

Prayer:

Dear Loving Lord,  as I reflect on your word and look into the majestic heavens of your creation, I cannot fathom the amount of love you have poured out on us.  You showed it to us on Calvary, and we still cannot truly understand it.  There is no way for us truly appreciate and comprehend all that this means to us.  Let us, oh Lord, simply look at your sky, and imagine how far, how great and how large it is, and then realize that your love is even greater.   In your Son's name, Amen.
