Scripture Text:
"Your goodness is as high as the mountains." (Psalm
36:6)
Thought:
God is good. There's a simple song we sometimes sing called
"God is so good". The words are repeated over and
over. Why do we sing such a simple song? Because sometimes the
most powerful thoughts are comprised in the most simple words.
God is good in so many ways. In this age of blaming someone for
everything, God is often blamed for so many things. When someone has
a string of bad luck, they say God is against them. When a family
looses a loved one, they say, "How could God take him from
us?" When someone is tempted to live a life of sin, they say,
"How could God create me this way?"
Here's the simple truth. God is good. He doesn't make bad
things happen, he doesn't take away our loved ones, and he doesn't make us
do bad things. Some of these things occur because he was good enough
to give us choices in life. And, best of all, when we do bad things,
he's good enough to welcome us back. Praise God, He is good!!!
Prayer:
Great and merciful God, we praise you for your goodness. We know
that we sometimes want to blame someone for the bad things in life and on
earth. However, we must resist the temptation to blame them on
you. Help us to overcome the "blame game" mentality of
this world. Help us to recognize your goodness in all that you've
done for us. Help us to share that goodness with our fellow
man. In Christ's name, Amen.
